There is more and more literature to support that the type of bacteria in the human gut during infancy may affect the development of allergies and/or asthma later in life. This study is testing whether oral administration of specific bacteria to newborns may help prevent allergic diseases. These bacteria have been identified as lacking in the first year of life in children who go on to develop allergic disease.
